Granada Geopark to the Tropical Coast, along the desert to the sea

Within the limits of Gorafe, starts the bike route “Granada Geopark to the Tropical Coast”. It will find Andalusia’s largest Megalithic archaeological site. Then the valley around Guadix will surprise you with its strange, moon-like quality, both enchanting and desolate. This wild, arid landscape known as the “bad lands”, is one of Spain’s most remote areas. The local Guadix environment has left its mark on the way of life of the local population, so as to force them to construct a peculiar type of family and communal dwelling: caves.

Cycling to Granada

Granada Geopark to the Tropical Coast, abandons the moon-like area of Guadix to the winerys of Graena,  also famous for the arab baths. The wines of the area are wellworth to taste.

Up and down from Graena to La Peza, is a rewarding route throught orchards and vineyards. From La Peza, Granada Geopark to the Tropical Coast has to climb to the Blancares Port to an altitud of 1297m. A long downhill along the Aguasblancas river to the Quéntar reservoir with its emerald water. Then the downhill  continues to the Genil River that will accompany you to the center of Granada
